Hypertopia, billboard, 2003
This is a project still in process with the help of the Berwick Research Institute and Clear Channel Media. Inspired by the temporary shutdown of the BRI in the summer of 2003 and the transitional economic state of the Dudley Square area, the billboard attempts to question 'utopia for whom?'. The photo is of the Dudley area taken from atop the Prudential building in downtown Boston and is projected to be placed atop the BRI building. Is the utopia referenced an artistic utopia that the Berwick encourages, the economic utopia that urban developers and the city forsee, or the individual utopias of the community members that currently reside in that section of Roxbury?
