Beespace #1-16, map, digital prints, 2003

As part of my residency at the Berwick Research Instiute, I attempted to remap the Dudley Square area by documenting the neighborhood in terms of potential areas of pollen harvest to be used by urban beekeepers. The map to the left, blocking five walks to explore the space with the red dot representing the BRI, as well as the documentary photos are what remain from this project. The handmade sign stating 'work or die' reflects the essential ethic of a beehive, but also serves as an apt metaphor for our contemporary situation in a capitalistic society.
